Will has been crafting numerous items of various designs over the past 20 years. Woods by Will is a two-person operation; Will does all of the woodworking and his wife, Mary Ann, handles the business and website updates.
All of his projects have been completed using a scroll-saw and many kinds of wood. In addition, he has incorporated stained glass into some of these articles, including suncatchers and table lamps. His specialty is creating picture frames which are customized for classic cars using a name or emblem and the year. Entrants in the Minnesota Street Rod Association “Back to the 50’s” Car Show are enthusiastic purchasers of these frames.
His medium is domestic natural hardwoods for the majority of these items. Bookmarks are cut from very thin Baltic Birch Plywood. None of his items are stained; he uses a clear Danish Oil to finish most of the articles, which brings up the lovely grain of the wood. Satin Polyurethane is also used to finish some items.
Will takes pride in his attention to detail and does not take shortcuts. When a fine line is part of a pattern, he uses vein cuts and does not woodburn them.
In all cases, the items available are not limited to those shown. He will be happy to work with you in designing new products.
